A powerful storm becomes the backdrop for terror in Thrash, the upcoming shark thriller directed by Tommy Wirkola and arriving on Netflix April 10, 2026.

Set in a coastal town devastated by a Category 5 hurricane, the story follows residents struggling to survive the destruction left behind by the storm. As floodwaters surge through the streets, they bring with them an unexpected threat: sharks hunting in the flooded town.
Wirkola explained that his fascination with shark films began in childhood after watching classics like Jaws and Jaws 2. The director said the concept for Thrash grew from the idea of merging large-scale natural disasters with the tension of a shark thriller.

Producer Adam McKay noted that the film also draws inspiration from evolving scientific discussions about how climate change may affect shark migration and behavior, adding an environmental layer to the story.
With its mix of severe weather, rising waters, and predators moving through the chaos, Thrash places survival at the center of a disaster scenario where the threat is both natural and predatory.
Thrash is arriving on Netflix April 10, 2026.
