Yes, it’s Friday! That means another update with the HHN Tracker 2016. In this fourth installment we see things slow to a crawl with information but there is plenty going on in construction. A lot of this is due to the imminent arrival of the undead when The Walking Dead opens on Monday. Until then information is scarce. That’s fine, we have a lot to see including a brand new façade on the maze in the Backlot area along with more finishing touches on the maze near Jurassic Park and the construction near Revenge of the Mummy. We are so excited for the terrifying nightmares awaiting! Let’s get started.

As we do each week we will be pulling quotes from Creative Director Halloween Horror Nights, John Murdy via his prolific Twitter feed, to help flesh out the deets.
Once we get past 4th of July…they will start coming at a much more regular pace. The line-up is KILLER! Trust me!

Okay, here’s to hoping he is being straight up with us. We believe him, and man, what could be out there waiting for us?
The Walking Dead
Last Tuesday we were privileged enough to be invited to the preview event for The Walking Dead attraction at the park. While there were still some adjustments that needed to be made, we were blown away. You can read our full review here along with video of the opening ceremonies and a full walkthrough of the attraction.
The news regarding Horror Nights was interesting on this one…
@HorrorNights Will the walking dead attraction be more intense during HHN?
— Diego Ygnacio (@2753_1) June 30, 2016
Answer: yes, we designed TWD so that we could add a lot more performers for HHN.
— Horror Nights (@HorrorNights) June 30, 2016
NICE! This already impressive attraction will be amped up.
The French Courtyard
Nothing has appeared yet in the French Courtyard as we await further announcements from both Murdy and Universal on what could be coming to the event.
The Exorcist (The Revenge of the Mummy Extended Queue)
It was confirmed that The Exorcist will be going into the Revenge of the Mummy extended queue recently. Of course there are now bits of info coming from Murdy as he takes breaks from The Walking Dead to begin more work on HHN projects.
Finally broke out of The Walking Dead building to go look at HHN maze construction. Walked the layout of Exorcist and two other mazes…
— Horror Nights (@HorrorNights) June 24, 2016
Had to check out something specific in Exorcist in the beginning of the maze. Wall construction to support a specific special effect. Hmmm
— Horror Nights (@HorrorNights) June 24, 2016
Jurassic Park Extended Queue
Looking over at the extended Jurassic Park queue we are more and more eager to see what this will be. Murdy confirmed that this will be the next maze announced as scenic will be going in by July 11th.
Thankfully we will announce the theme for that maze prior to the beginning of scenic. I know its been a long gap in announcements…
— Horror Nights (@HorrorNights) June 24, 2016
The maze being built down in JP queue is almost done with physical construction, scenic for that maze begins July 11th…

Backlot
All of a sudden another fancy façade popped up on the maze in the backlot. Well, another house façade. What could this possibly be?
The items that were staged in the usual drop off spot for the backlot mazes has been replaced by construction pieces for the nearby tilt-up.
Stage 747
It was confirmed that nothing will be going into Stage 747 this year due to production. However, Murdy did say that a maze will go right in front of it. So far nothing yet, but the shipping containers are set up, as they were last year.
Terror Tram
@HorrorNights Will the Terror Tram be Based on any past ScareZones from other years?
— Themeparkinfo (@HHNinfo) June 30, 2016
Answer: no…it’s an original concept I am doing with…someone…
— Horror Nights (@HorrorNights) June 30, 2016
We are interested to know what this original concept is. Could this mean we will miss The Purge this year, no more Walking Dead of course, so what will be moving in at the Bates Motel?
AUDITIONS
We wanted to remind any potential slashers, monsters, or zombies that you still have a chance to audition for this event. Per Murdy’s tweet below.
If you want to be part of HHN and join our demented little family, auditions are July 7-9. Sign up here https://t.co/hd7LWZoGUV
— Horror Nights (@HorrorNights) June 24, 2016
In closing we will kick the excitement and speculation into hyperdrive with a very heartening declaration from John Murdy.
@HorrorNights in your honest opinion how does this year’s line up rank against previous year’s??
— miguel favela (@miguelfavela2) June 30, 2016
Answer: I think this is the best lineup we have ever had…and that’s being completely honest…no hype
— Horror Nights (@HorrorNights) June 30, 2016
WOW! Who’s ready to dive into the mayhem???
