Vaneast Pictures, founded by Danielle Gasher, has secured international sales rights for the upcoming horror film The Confession. The film stars Italia Ricci (Designated Survivor), Scott Mechlowicz (Euro Trip), Zachary Golinger (Barry), and Terence Rosemore (Superman).
Written and directed by Will Canon (Brotherhood, Demonic), The Confession tells the story of a musician who returns to her childhood home with her son. There, she uncovers a recording of her late father confessing to a murder he claims was committed in self-defense against an unknown evil force. As her son begins to display increasingly disturbing behavior, she must confront the possibility that the darkness her father spoke of has returned. The film draws inspiration from the legendary folktale of the Pied Piper.
Gasher expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, “The Confession is a reimagining of the Pied Piper legend anchored by a strong performance from Italia Ricci. We are thrilled to bring this film to market at TIFF.” Director Will Canon also praised the collaboration, saying, “Danielle is smart and ambitious and has championed our film since she first saw it. We are beyond excited to be working with Danielle and Vaneast Pictures on The Confession.”
Produced by Rosanna Eden-Ellis of Five By Five Films, the film is executive produced by Canon and Mark Petersen of Three Folks Pictures. Domestic sales are represented by Kevin Iwashina of Metzger Iwashina Media.
