The first teaser trailer for Primal Darkness has arrived, offering an early look at writer-director Dillon Brown’s upcoming found footage horror feature, slated for release in Spring 2026. Known for the creature-driven energy of the Tahoe Joe series, Brown shifts into markedly darker territory with this project, trading camp for a more grounded and relentless style of storytelling.

Shot in the Nevada high desert over the summer, production on Primal Darkness mirrored the intensity of the narrative itself. The team encountered hazardous landscapes, severe weather, and difficult working conditions. Brown, who also stars in the film, sustained multiple broken bones while performing a stunt sequence but continued filming, calling the movie “the darkest, most demanding work of my career.”

The film follows Cole Harrington, host of a popular outdoor show, who travels to rural Nevada to investigate a series of unexplained cattle attacks. The case takes a disturbing turn when he discovers footage capturing the final moments of two missing university employees. What begins as a wildlife investigation quickly evolves into a struggle against something far more elusive and intelligent.
Brown describes Primal Darkness as a deliberate departure from his previous work, focusing on isolation, survival, and the fear of confronting forces beyond human understanding. “With this film, I wanted to push myself into uncomfortable places,” he said. “It isn’t fun. It isn’t playful. Primal Darkness is meant to unsettle you.”
Primal Darkness is set to release Spring 2026.
