Is 80 dollars a night worth your safety? This is the very question Richard Halpern, director of Suburban Nightmare, asked himself while working on a project.  “A family of four, mother and father late 30’s, two toddler daughters, allowed me, someone they never met, to move into their home while they lived there.  I thought to myself, is it worth risking the lives of your children by having a stranger inside your house?  For 80-bucks a night?   I immediately began to write Suburban Nightmare.  And now it’s completed, ready to show to the world!” said Halpern. Now we can see just what happens when the wrong person answers a want-ad.

Synopsis: Suburban Nightmare is set in an “AirBnB”-like universe, where a family struggling to make ends meet, rents a room in their home to a stranger on a home sharing app.  Unfortunately for them, they chose the wrong person.

The juxtaposition of the song “We’re Going to Be Friends” with scenes of terror was a wonderful choice. The song takes on an eerie effect when shown with unnerving scenes from the film. Suburban Nightmare was shot with an outline rather than a script. This provides a great deal of creative freedom with guided improv, adding a layer of unpredictability and realism. We catch a glimpse of some of this in the trailer are left wanting more!
