The Boston Underground Film Festival (BUFF) will return for its 26th edition from March 18–22, 2026, presenting more than 20 screenings across the Brattle Theatre in Harvard Square and, for the first time, the Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline.

Opening night will feature director Ben Wheatley’s Normal, starring Bob Odenkirk, who is scheduled to appear for a live post-screening Q&A. The festival will also present Obsession as a centerpiece selection, while Saccharine from director Natalie Erika James will serve as one of two closing-night films.

Among the repertory highlights is a 40th-anniversary screening of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, with star Bill Moseley appearing in person for a Q&A and meet-and-greet.

The 2026 edition marks a leadership transition, as former technical directors Adam Van Voorhis and Phil Healy step into co-festival director roles, joined by Coolidge Corner Theatre artistic director Mark Anastasio as BUFF’s new artistic director. Together, they aim to continue the festival’s focus on genre storytelling, independent voices, and filmmaker engagement.

The Boston Underground Film Festival runs March 18–22, 2026, in Cambridge and Brookline, Massachusetts.
