IFC Films has “changed the birth plan” for Breeder. Writer-director Alex Goyette’s horror feature, previously due in theaters on October 16, will now open on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, putting it in theaters the weekend before Halloween.

Breeder follows a broke college student who is lured to a remote ranch by an eccentric poodle breeder with the promise of research funding. As he soon learns, there’s a catch. IFC’s own tagline for the new date sums up the tone: “We can’t wait for you to meet the family.”

Goyette wrote and directed the film, which stars Daniel Doheny (Alex Strangelove, The Package), Dot-Marie Jones (Glee), and Maddie Phillips (The Boys, Gen V), with Tanaya Beatty and Paige McGarvin rounding out the cast. The film runs 97 minutes and is presented in English.

IFC Films, the home of recent genre releases including Late Night with the Devil and Oddity, is distributing. Alongside the date change, the studio has released a new 30-second cutdown of the trailer.
