Indie developer Nozomu Games has announced that Burn With Me, its narrative-driven occult card game, will launch on PC via Steam on October 12, 2026. Set within a sinister university steeped in forbidden ritual, the game blends strategic deckbuilding with a supernatural story about obsession, sacrifice, and the very real cost of making a pact with something you don’t fully understand.

The game introduces what the developer is calling the “deck-burner” genre: rather than protecting every card in your hand, players are encouraged to sacrifice valuable pieces of their own deck in exchange for devastating effects. Burn too much, and you’ll have nothing left. The mechanic isn’t just a gimmick — it mirrors the game’s central themes directly. Every chapter follows a different student drawn into ancient rites by their enigmatic, obsessed teacher, and every choice carries weight. The game’s six chapters each introduce a unique cast, set of mechanics, cards, bosses, and emotional throughline, with a tonal range that spans psychological horror and jazz-inflected surrealism.

Burn With Me is the work of Munich-based duo Ivan Bushmin and Eva Manuilovich, the married couple behind Nozomu Games. Manuilovich also serves as narrative designer and created all of the game’s distinctive hand-drawn artwork. The game’s uncanny atmosphere is further amplified by a recurring live-action element: a mysterious figure known simply as the Hand, who appears through real footage interspersed with the illustrated world.

The project has roots in Ludum Dare 55, where an early prototype climbed into the competition’s top one percent and attracted over 20,000 players. Inscryption creator Daniel Mullins praised the project during that period, helping cement the team’s direction for a full commercial release.
