Director Chuck Russell returns to horror with WITCHBOARD, a new adaptation of the 1986 cult classic, arriving in theaters nationwide on August 15, 2025.

Written by Russell and Greg McKay, and inspired by Kevin Tenney’s original screenplay, the film brings audiences into a modern tale of occult forces set in present-day New Orleans. The story follows a young couple whose lives are upended after encountering a cursed artifact that awakens a powerful and vengeful witch.

WITCHBOARD stars Madison Iseman (Nocturne), Aaron Dominguez (Only Murders in the Building), Mel Jarnson, and Charlie Tahan, with supporting performances from Antonia Desplat and Jamie Campbell Bower. The film blends themes of possession and ritual with a psychological descent as its characters confront escalating supernatural threats.

Chuck Russell, known for genre-defining films including A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors and The Mask, directs this reimagining with an emphasis on atmosphere, folklore, and spiritual intrusion.
