SCREAMBOX will debut DEATHWOODS, a new slasher horror film from co-directors Jake Kopronica and Deryk Wehrley, on September 1, 2026. The film marks a fresh entry in the woods-set survival subgenre, backed by Cineverse’s horror division Bloody Disgusting.
Set in the forests surrounding Old Hickory, Tennessee, DEATHWOODS follows Scott, whose friends Kyle and Jessica plan a camping trip to help him recover from a painful breakup by introducing him to Jessica’s friend Michelle. What starts as a weekend escape turns deadly when the group discovers that the local legend haunting the area — a grotesque figure said to lurk deep within the trees, born from a decades-old murder-suicide involving the Wallace family — may not be legend at all. As paranoia, isolation, and violence escalate, the four friends are pushed into a desperate fight for survival.
The film was written by Kopronica and Scott Conner, and stars Anthony Dain, KateLynn E. Newberry, MacKenzie Lee, and Kellan Jackson, with horror icon Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp, Terrifier 2) and introducing Miles Dimitri Baker. The production was produced by Scott Conner, Jake Kopronica, Deryk Wehrley, Jaren J. Lewis, and Celeste Blandon. Runtime is 84 minutes; the film is not rated.
DEATHWOODS streams exclusively on SCREAMBOX beginning September 1, 2026. SCREAMBOX is available on iOS, Android, Prime Video, YouTube TV, Comcast, Cox, and at screambox.com.
