Diane Lane has joined the cast of The Exorcist, the upcoming feature from writer-director Mike Flanagan. The film is produced by Blumhouse-Atomic Monster and Morgan Creek Entertainment for Universal Pictures. Lane joins previously announced cast members Scarlett Johansson and Jacobi Jupe.

The new film will tell an original story set within The Exorcist universe and is not a continuation of 2023’s The Exorcist: Believer. Production is scheduled to take place in New York City, with a theatrical release set for Friday, March 12, 2027. Flanagan will write and direct the project through his Red Room Pictures banner, with Alexandra Magistro executive producing.
Lane’s casting adds a veteran presence to the ensemble, following recent work in FEUD: Capote vs. The Swans, A Man in Full, and Inside Out 2. The project marks Flanagan’s latest entry into established genre mythology, bringing a new creative direction to one of cinema’s most enduring horror titles.
