Epic Pictures and Dread have announced nationwide theatrical plans for The Mortuary Assistant, the feature adaptation of the best-selling horror video game created by Brian Clarke. The film will open in theaters across the U.S. on February 13, 2026, followed by a streaming release on Shudder on March 27, 2026.

Directed by Jeremiah Kipp and starring Willa Holland and Paul Sparks, The Mortuary Assistant follows newly certified mortician Rebecca Owens, who takes a night shift job embalming bodies alone after hours. As unexplained events escalate, Rebecca begins to uncover demonic rituals, unsettling truths about her mentor, and fragments of her own past, all while struggling to survive the night.

The film expands on the world and mythology established in the 2022 game, which developed a dedicated following after its initial PC release and later expanded to consoles. Written by Tracee Beebe and Clarke, the adaptation is produced by Patrick Ewald through Epic Pictures’ Dread division, alongside Traverse Media and Jacob P. Heineke.
