Scary Kid Studios and publisher Digital Pajamas have announced October 1, 2026 as the release date for Don’t Fret, a first-person psychological horror puzzle game coming to PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The date was revealed at the Future Games Show Summer Showcase 2026 alongside a new release date trailer.

In Don’t Fret, players take control of Fret, a sentient guitar who awakens inside Harmonic Heights — a prestigious music school with a very dark secret. Pursued by horrifying creatures that hunt by sound, Fret must use stealth, logic, and an evolving guitar tuner to survive, solving piano, guitar, and drum puzzles while collecting fractured memories that slowly explain how to escape.
What separates Don’t Fret from the typical horror game pack is that music isn’t atmosphere here — it’s the core mechanic. Sound shapes the world, the puzzles, and the story in ways players will feel as much as see. Enemies react to noise, turning the act of making music into a high-stakes exercise in timing and nerve. A free demo, Don’t Fret: The Audition, is already available on Steam for those who want a taste before October.
The game is developed by US-based indie studio Scary Kid Studios and published by Digital Pajamas, and it marks an imaginative swing for independent horror gaming — part stealth survival, part musical puzzle box, set inside a nightmare school. The premise may sound playful, but the team has been consistent in emphasizing genuine dread as the end result.
Don’t Fret arrives October 1, 2026 on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Add it to your wishlist at store.steampowered.com or download the free demo, Don’t Fret: The Audition, on Steam now.
