Filmmaker Alison-Eve Hammersley (Fragile.com, You’ll Only Have Each Other) makes her feature debut with Erie, a found footage investigation set in the final days of 1999, which world premieres at Beyond Fest on October 1, 2026. The screening is part of a series of programming sponsored by MUBI.
In fall 1999, a string of bizarre suicides has quietly unsettled the community of Erie, Pennsylvania. Siblings Stella and Oscar return to their childhood home armed with an old camcorder, a few leads, and a desperate need to understand what happened to their town and to their sister. What starts as a personal investigation twists through conspiracy theories, personal secrets, and local lore, and becomes a descent into paranoia, grief, and something possibly far more sinister.
Carly Stewart (Breakup Season) stars as Stella, with Grant Crater (Church of Phil) as Oscar and Ryan Garcia (Nope) as Red. Hammersley co-wrote the screenplay with J. Batzli, winner of the Shore Scripts Short Film Fund for her psychological thriller Little Anna. The film is produced by Hammersley and Anna Golin for Rat’s Nest Pictures, Thomas Hartmann (Hal & Harper), George Henry Horton for Dark Atlantic (Dark Hollow, Strawstalker), and Matt Gossen, who also served as specialty character designer.
A Q&A follows the premiere with Hammersley, Stewart, Crater, Batzli, Horton, and Gossen. After Los Angeles, Erie heads to the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival in October for its East Coast premiere.
Erie screens Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at the Los Feliz 3 Theatre.
