Universal Studios Hollywood has officially initiated the first launch testing for Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, the park’s upcoming high-speed outdoor roller coaster set to open in 2026. This marks a major milestone in the development of what will be Universal’s first outdoor roller coaster in the park’s history.

The initial test run involved the train containing four ride vehicles, including the iconic Dodge Charger, though all were concealed during this early testing phase. Additional ride vehicle reveals are planned for a later date.

Spanning approximately 4,100 feet of track—nearly the length of 12 football fields—Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will feature individually rotating vehicles capable of 360-degree spins. Designed to simulate the sensation of precision drifting, the coaster integrates sound reduction technology to minimize noise as it winds through the park’s Upper and Lower Lots, even crossing over the multi-level escalator.

Guests will board from an expansive, garage-inspired queue before stepping into vehicles modeled after some of the most recognizable cars from the Fast & Furious film series, including Dominic Toretto’s 1970 Dodge Charger.

The project benefits from Universal Destinations & Experiences’ decades of innovation in ride engineering, joining the park’s impressive lineup that includes SUPER NINTENDO WORLD™, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™, Jurassic World—The Ride, and the world-famous Studio Tour.

Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift opens in 2026 at Universal Studios Hollywood.
