A24 has released an exclusive behind-the-scenes first look at EDDINGTON, the highly anticipated feature from writer-director Ari Aster, set to open in theaters on July 18.
Led by a cast that includes Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, Emma Stone, Austin Butler, and Luke Grimes, EDDINGTON is set in a small New Mexico town during a turbulent period in May 2020. The story follows a tense standoff between a local sheriff (Phoenix) and the town’s mayor (Pascal), escalating into a broader community conflict. The film also stars Deirdre O’Connell, Micheal Ward, Amélie Hoeferle, Clifton Collins Jr., and William Belleau.
Aster, known for Hereditary and Midsommar, takes a grounded yet provocative turn with EDDINGTON, leaning into contemporary social friction and community dynamics.
Pedro Pascal, reflecting on the shoot, noted, “It felt dangerous to me in all of the right ways,” hinting at the film’s emotionally volatile core and its exploration of tension in close-knit communities.
