Jordan Peele and Monkeypaw Productions, the team behind Get Out, Us, Candyman, and Nope, have announced their latest feature, HIM, a tense exploration of ambition, idol worship, and the high cost of greatness. The film stars Marlon Wayans (Air, Respect) in a dramatic role, alongside rising talent Tyriq Withers (Atlanta, I Know What You Did Last Summer).
Stills from HIM
Withers plays Cameron Cade, a promising quarterback whose career is threatened after a violent encounter with an obsessed fan leaves him with a severe brain injury just before the professional football scouting Combine. Facing the possible end of his dreams, Cam is unexpectedly invited to train with his sports idol, eight-time championship quarterback Isaiah White (Wayans), at White’s secluded compound.
Behind the Scenes
Joined by his influencer wife Elsie (Julia Fox, Uncut Gems), Isaiah begins molding Cam into a successor—but the mentorship soon takes a disturbing turn, leading Cam into a psychological spiral where success comes at a dangerous price.
The supporting cast includes Tim Heidecker (Us), comedian Jim Jefferies, MMA fighter Maurice Greene, and recording artists Guapdad 4000 and Grammy nominee Tierra Whack in their feature debuts.
HIM is directed by Justin Tipping (Kicks) from a Black List screenplay by Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie (Limetown). Producers include Ian Cooper, Jordan Peele, Win Rosenfeld, and Jamal M. Watson, with executive producers David Kern and Kate Oh.
