Just south of downtown Seattle, Washington, there is a true gem of a haunted house attraction known as the Georgetown Morgue. This expansive walkthrough is an inventive, endlessly fun experience that any haunt fan or lover of Halloween must visit. The overall feel is infectious fun and mischief, but don’t be fooled. You will scream and you will scream loud on account of the disorienting paths and stellar cast that aggressively works hard to entertain.

We made our way to the Industrial District and soon happened upon a large warehouse that was teeming with monsters. We were directed to park just across the street in a spacious monitored parking lot then directed by the staff to the box office. Here, we picked up our tickets and queued up.

Making our way around the exterior of the building we could already get a sense of the personality that this particular haunt had. The monsters working guests outside were playful but above all menacing. A whispy-haired zombie greeted us with a toothy grin and a blood-spattered zombie nurse shot sinister grins as she guided us to the queue to enter. After the photo-op moment, (spoiler alert) where the first scare happened, we entered the attraction.

Dark surrounded us and we forged a path through the creepy halls of the dilapidated morgue. Medical examiners taunted us, nurses startled us, and fellow victims lunged and cried for help. What immediately struck us was the energy of the cast. They must have loaded up on Red Bull because they were thirsty for screams and we were loving every second of it. One thing to note, however, is the uneven paths through the haunt. While you may want to run, we advise you to move carefully and slowly through the darkened corridors. Aside from the aforementioned energetic cast, this haunt was a good length with a solid mix of scenes and a great use of space. One particularly striking area included a gushing water feature that glowed with toxicity as the metal grates below our feet kept us from falling into the chemicals.

We made it out, barely, as we were shown the exit with an assist from a chainsaw-wielding maniac. Shooting out of the attraction we were laughing, screaming, and fully entertained.

While Georgetown Morgue’s main feature is the maze at Halloween, the attraction is open year-round and features three separate escape games and a banquet hall.

If you are a local, or visiting the Seattle area, we can’t recommend Georgetown Morgue enough. It’s fun, scary, creative, the cast is amazing, and there is a genuine desire from everyone there to entertain. Do NOT miss this one.
