Monkeypaw Productions has confirmed that HIM—a psychological sports horror drama—will open in U.S. theaters on September 19.
The film centers on Cameron Cade (Tyriq Withers), a star quarterback prospect who suffers a severe brain injury after an attack on the eve of the pro football Combine. Desperate to salvage his career, he accepts an invitation to train with his childhood idol, eight‑time champion Isaiah White (Marlon Wayans), at White’s secluded estate. Under the watchful eye of influencer wife Elsie (Julia Fox), Cameron’s comeback spirals into a tense exploration of ambition, control, and the cost of greatness.

Director Justin Tipping (Kicks) adapts a Black List script by Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie, with Tipping contributing to the screenplay. The supporting cast includes Tim Heidecker, Jim Jefferies, MMA fighter Maurice Greene, and recording artists Guapdad 4000 and Grammy nominee Tierra Whack in their feature debuts.

Produced by Ian Cooper, Jordan Peele, Win Rosenfeld, and Jamal M. Watson, HIM continues Monkeypaw’s tradition of genre storytelling that interrogates cultural obsession and identity. Executive producers are David Kern and Kate Oh.
