The fog is rolling in, but before it does, Knott’s Scary Farm has to create some fancy treats for all the ghoulish guests coming their way later this month. Lucky for us, we were able to get a sneak peek at most of them when Knott’s invited us out for their Scary Farm tastings. Not only did we get a chance to try some new bites, but we also got a look at the new merchandise coming out way for the season.

While usually done as a free-for-all buffet in the past, things were a bit different this time around. We were treated to a four-course meal, with each one showcasing one of the many new plates coming our way this season.

For starters, we had the Angry Autumn Salad, which featured butternut squash, beets, pomegranate seeds, goat cheese, and an apple cider vinaigrette. For a salad, it was actually quite delicious. It was tasty, somewhat filling, and actually pretty impressive for a theme park salad.

The main course was a Chicken and Spicy Sausage Gumbo with frog leg garnish. As far as gumbos go, this one was pretty damn good. I was very impressed with how good it tasted. The added garnish of the frog legs was a nice touch. They even tasted good!

Coming in third was a sampler plate of a few options: spooky crabby sushi roll, ghouls mac and cheese with steak bites, Mexican chorizo shrimp slider, and creepy calamari with spicy aioli. To be fair, I was only looking forward to one of these dishes, but wound up enjoying each and every one. I was especially thrilled with the spooky crabby sushi roll, which was quite good!

Dessert was made up of canine candy corn (which was a macaroon), pecan pie brownie bomb, and skeleton bone cookie. These were pretty par for the course, and while good, did not add a whole lot to the dessert offerings.

In addition to the dishes we were able to sample, we also able to see some of the other news food offerings, which you can see photos of below. There are some delicious new things heading our way.

As for merch, Scary Farm always knocks it out of the park every year. Some new shirts and spirit jerseys will be available, along with some hats and pins. One of the most exciting things we saw was a Scary Farm tiki mug, which is sure to delight some folks.

We also got to see some of the new artwork for the INTO THE FOG art show, which just gets better and better every single year.

Knott’s Scary Farm opens on September 22 and runs through October 31. For more information, visit them online at: https://www.knotts.com/events/scary-farm
