Freestyle Digital Media has acquired the North American VOD rights to SPARK, an LGBTQ+ sci-fi romance from first-time feature filmmaker Nicholas Giuricich. The film will be available to rent or own across digital HD internet, cable, and satellite platforms, as well as on DVD, starting June 10, 2025.
Written and directed by Giuricich, SPARK explores themes of desire, repetition, and self-discovery through the story of Aaron, a romantic trapped in a time loop following an intense encounter with a mysterious man named Trevor. As the cycle continues, Aaron begins to question whether Trevor is the cause — and if breaking free means confronting more than just the passage of time.
The cast features notable non-binary and LGBTQ+ talent, including Theo Germaine as Aaron, Vico Ortiz as Dani, and Olympic athlete Danell Leyva as Trevor. Produced by Lesley Lopez (ReKon Productions) and the Giuricich brothers under the Berlin 7 banner, SPARK combines romantic drama with speculative elements to explore the complexities of queer relationships.
Director Nicholas Giuricich described the film as a story about “love, desire, and fantasy told through queer characters,” adding that the film is a personal reflection on the cycles people find themselves in when chasing connection.
SPARK will be released just in time for Pride Month and adds a unique genre entry to the growing library of LGBTQ+ genre cinema.
