Twenty-five years after its micro-budget debut, Geno McGahee’s first feature EVIL AWAKENING is back in the spotlight. Shot in New England in 2000, the regional slasher achieved cult status on DVD in 2008 and later streamed on Netflix before vanishing from circulation. Cinema Epoch has now uploaded the film to YouTube in its entirety, giving fans free access to a title long considered lost media.

McGahee acknowledges the rough-around-the-edges production values of his debut but welcomes its return: “It was my first film and it’s chaos, but I’m very happy that it’s been released into the wild again.” EVIL AWAKENING follows the cursed town of Ludlow, where a murdered farmer rises from the grave—axe in hand—to target unsuspecting campers and partygoers.

The release arrives as McGahee expands his genre résumé. He recently wrapped the rom-com LOVE SPELL for a late-2025 rollout and begins production on the thriller DARK PLACES later this year. Fans of Rise of the Scarecrows, Fatal Justice, and Scary Tales: Dark Walker can now revisit the filmmaker’s origins while anticipating his next projects.

EVIL AWAKENING is streaming free on YouTube now.
