The Purge mastermind James DeMonaco returns to feature filmmaking this summer with The Home, an R-rated horror thriller front-lined by comedian-actor Pete Davidson. The film is set for a wide U.S. theatrical launch on July 25, 2025 through an as-yet-undisclosed distributor.

Co-written by DeMonaco and Adam Cantor and produced by Bill Block and Sebastien K. Lemercier, The Home follows a rebellious twentysomething ordered to perform community service at a seemingly quiet Staten Island retirement facility. The fourth floor—reserved for residents requiring “special care”—quickly becomes the focus of his curiosity. As he probes deeper, he uncovers a secret that threatens the lives of the residents and his own safety.

DeMonaco says the project channels the slow-burn tension of 1970s genre cinema before erupting into a blood-drenched climax. Davidson, best known for Saturday Night Live and Bodies Bodies Bodies, steps into a darker dramatic role opposite genre veterans John Glover and Bruce Altman.

With an isolated setting, a compact ensemble, and DeMonaco’s proven knack for socially charged horror, The Home is positioned as one of summer 2025’s most talked-about genre releases.
