Image Comics has announced Red Roots Vol. 1, a trade paperback collecting the first five issues of the ongoing supernatural mystery series by creator and artist Lorenzo De Felici (Oblivion Song, Void Rivals, Kroma), hitting shelves this fall.

Red Roots centers on a puzzle-box mystery that binds two seemingly unconnected people — a professional killer and a high school teacher — through a terrifying, mysterious force. As the story unfolds across both their lives, dark fantasy lore and plot-twisting revelations pull readers deeper into a world that refuses to show its hand. Comparisons to The Mist and The Cabin in the Woods give a flavor of the tonal range De Felici is working in — genre-bending, propulsive, and deliberately unsettling.

De Felici, who rose to mainstream prominence as co-creator of Oblivion Song with Robert Kirkman (Invincible, The Walking Dead) and as the artist behind the Energon Universe flagship title Void Rivals, makes Red Roots his breakout work as a solo creator. Kirkman himself is enthusiastic: “This is the comic series you’ve been waiting your whole life for,” he wrote in a blurb for the series. Critics have taken note as well — AIPT called it “bold, exciting, and visually striking,” praising De Felici for trusting readers to sit with tension while withholding answers.

Red Roots Vol. 1  arrives at local comic shops October 21, 2026, and at independent bookstores, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million, Indigo, and Waterstones on November 17, 2026. The series is also available on digital platforms including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, Google Play, Kobo, Hoopla, and more.
