Yellow Veil Pictures has announced that Salt Along the Tongue, the second feature from writer-director Parish Malfitano, will arrive on VOD on May 1, 2026. A new trailer is now available.
After teenager Mattia’s mother dies unexpectedly, she has no choice but to move in with her aunt Carol — her mother’s identical twin. As Mattia struggles with grief and her strange new circumstances, a treacherous family secret begins to surface. From beyond the grave, Mattia’s mother possesses her daughter, not only trying to protect her from the same fate, but also to find reconciliation with her twin sister — using food as a gateway.
Malfitano draws on his own Italian heritage for the film, rooting it in the malocchio (evil eye) superstition. His screenplay was a semi-finalist in Francis Ford Coppola’s American Zoetrope Screenplay Competition, and the director has cited Volver, Possession, Three Women, and Don’t Look Now as touchstones. The film arrives via Yellow Veil Pictures, the boundary-pushing genre label behind releases from Larry Fessenden, George A. Romero, and Toby Poser. Salt Along the Tongue is an Australian production, running 113 minutes, and made its initial debut in 2024.
Salt Along the Tongue hits VOD on May 1, 2026.
