Black Mandala has unveiled A Mother’s Recall, a new psychological horror film from Argentinian director Mauro Iván Ojeda (La Funeraria), blending intimate family drama with chilling supernatural dread. The film marks another striking entry in Latin American genre cinema from a filmmaker with a growing international profile.

At the center of the A Mother’s Recall story is Genaro, a teenage orphan taken in by what appears to be a new family and a chance at belonging. As he settles into his new home, he senses something deeply wrong. Growing closer to his troubled sister Nuria, the two begin to uncover a dark and malevolent force lurking within the house — a sinister presence that feeds on their pain and grief, threatening to consume everyone within reach. Ojeda builds the film’s dread slowly and deliberately, using atmosphere and visual restraint to transform the familiar space of home into something deeply sinister.

Ojeda directs from his own screenplay, continuing the vein of slow-burn supernatural horror he explored in La Funeraria. The cast includes Mateo Berti, Miguel Bosco, Lorenzo Crespo, Vilma Echeverría, Guadalupe Aldaz Gallo, Virginia Garófalo, Edgardo Molinelli, Julieta Palermo, and Santino Resta. Music is composed by Pablo Fuu. The film is produced by Guillermo Ares, Guillermo Berman, Maximiliano Kanter, Juan Diego Kantor, Gabriel Palermo, Pablo Romano, and Pepe Salvia.

A Mother’s Recall explores universal fears of abandonment, identity, and the need for connection while delivering the kind of creeping supernatural horror that lingers well after the final frame.
