Smother will make its streaming premiere February 27 on IndiePix Unlimited via Amazon Channels, bringing a contained psychological horror story centered on trauma and inheritance.

The film follows Michi (Cornelia Ivancan), a recovering alcoholic who retreats to her estranged father’s remote countryside home with her eight-year-old daughter, Hanna (Lola Herbst). Hoping to repair their fractured relationship after a drunk-driving accident, Michi instead finds herself confronted by the house’s past. Her mother died by suicide there, and memories tied to that loss begin to resurface.

As Hanna starts sleepwalking and unsettling signs appear — including a recurring image of a woman in purple — the isolation intensifies. Neighbors hint at a lingering presence, and Michi’s growing paranoia blurs the line between psychological unraveling and possible haunting. When Hanna wanders toward traffic during a midnight trance, the threat no longer feels confined to the walls of the house.

The film builds toward a confrontation in a sunflower field, where Michi must face both the apparition of her mother and the deeper truth of generational trauma. At its core, Smother examines how unresolved grief and addiction can echo across generations — and whether that cycle can be broken.

Smother begins streaming February 27 on IndiePix Unlimited through Amazon Channels.
