Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma follows a queer filmmaker hired to direct a new installment of a long-running slasher franchise. Fixated on the idea of casting the reclusive actress (Gillian Anderson) who played the final girl in the original Camp Miasma film, the director draws the veteran performer back into the spotlight — and the two women descend into a frenzy of psychosexual mania as the production spirals out of control. It is, in Schoenbrun’s hands, both a deconstruction of the slasher genre and something far stranger and more personal.

The film stars Hannah Einbinder (Hacks), Gillian Anderson (The X-Files, The Fall), Jack Haven, and Eva Victor. Schoenbrun writes and directs, continuing the queer surrealist horror aesthetic of I Saw the TV Glow, their celebrated 2024 feature. Early reviews from Cannes are extraordinary — the film holds a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes across 45 reviews and a Metacritic score of 91 out of 100.
