The debut trailer for TEST has been released following the film’s recent festival success, including a tie with Leviticus for the Outstanding First Narrative Feature Prize at the Frameline Film Festival. The drama also earned the Audience Award at the Provincetown International Film Festival earlier this month and is set to make its Los Angeles premiere at Outfest on July 24.

Written and directed by Sam McConnell, TEST follows Eddie, a small-town bodybuilder pursuing a professional bodybuilding card while living under the close guidance of his deeply religious mother, Joanne. After experiencing a personal tragedy, Eddie begins training under veteran bodybuilder Mike, whose mentorship introduces him to the world of performance-enhancing drugs and awakens feelings that challenge Eddie’s conservative upbringing and sense of self.

As Eddie reconnects with his former girlfriend Abby, he finds himself navigating the competing pressures of ambition, identity, faith, and desire. The film explores these themes through the lens of competitive bodybuilding and personal transformation.

Attending the Outfest screening will be director Sam McConnell along with cast members Brock Yurich (The Garden Left Behind), Tammy Blanchard (The Invitation), Matthew Morrison (Glee), and Paloma Garcia-Lee (West Side Story).
