The Kinderhook Creature: In the Shadow of Sasquatch arrives on digital platforms March 24, 2026, examining a series of unexplained encounters in rural New York that have lingered for nearly half a century.

Directed by Seth Breedlove, founder of Small Town Monsters, the documentary investigates reports of a strange upright creature said to have appeared in Kinderhook, a small community in Columbia County. Beginning in the 1980s, author and radio broadcaster Bruce Hallenbeck documented repeated sightings involving his family, sparking widespread interest and ongoing debate.

The film serves as a companion to Hallenbeck’s book The Kinderhook Creature and Beyond: A Personal Reminiscence, while also exploring the broader cultural and personal impact of the alleged encounters. Through interviews and archival context, the documentary considers how folklore, personal testimony, and local history intersect.

Produced by Small Town Monsters and supported by backers of its 2025 Kickstarter campaign, the project continues Breedlove’s focus on American cryptid legends, following earlier works such as The Mothman of Point Pleasant and On the Trail of Bigfoot.
