Husband-and-wife filmmaking duo Sashia Dumont and Paul Robinson have taken home the Best Horror Short award for their psychological thriller The Resonance at the Astoria Film Festival, held at the iconic Kaufman Astoria Studio in New York. The AFF Jury praised the film as a showcase of “excellence in horror storytelling.”

The Resonance follows respected psychologist Sloan Campbell, who inherits her predecessor’s final session tapes following his untimely death. As she digs deeper into his last case, she uncovers a dark and unsettling pattern — and a sinister force begins to blur the boundary between modern medicine and the supernatural. Her pursuit of the truth forces her to walk the razor’s edge between science and something far more ancient.

Dumont co-directed and wrote the screenplay; Robinson directed and served as cinematographer. As part of the Best Horror Short win, the duo has secured a professional press and marketing campaign through Marketing Macabre, a PR firm specializing in horror and independent film.

“Towing the line between the psychological and the supernatural gave us a chance to explore how far the human mind can bend under the weight of the unknown,” said co-director and writer Sashia Dumont.

“Having their team behind The Resonance is the perfect next step to get this film in front of a much wider audience,” added director Paul Robinson.
