This Tempting Madness, starring Simone Ashley and co-written and directed by debut filmmaker Jennifer E. Montgomery, opens in select theaters and on demand this Friday, June 12. The film is inspired by a true story and plunges into questions of identity, memory, and fractured reality.

The film follows Mia (Ashley), who awakens from a coma grievously injured — her memory shattered, her sense of self uncertain. As she slowly reassembles the fragments of her past, she begins to question not just what happened to her, but whether she can trust her own actions and perception of reality at all.
Montgomery co-writes with Andrew M. Davis and directs with assured control for a first feature. The cast also includes Suraj Sharma (Life of Pi, God Friended Me) and Austin Stowell (Whiplash, Bridge of Spies). The film is produced by Davis and Montgomery alongside Mimi Chang, William Day Frank, Jessica Malanaphy, and Marcei A. Brown.
This Tempting Madness opens in select theaters and on demand on June 12, 2026.
