M.A.S. Productions — the team behind the award-winning documentary The History of Metal and Horror — has unveiled Through Static and Shadows, a five-episode limited series that brings psychic medium Catherine Nadal face-to-face with some of the most recognizable names in heavy metal and horror for authentic, unscripted readings.

Each episode unfolds in two parts. Nadal begins with tasseography — an ancient form of divination using coffee grounds — before transitioning into mediumship, where she communicates with deceased loved ones connected to the guest. Nadal arrives at each session with no prior knowledge of her subject, letting every reading develop in real time. The result is a show that leans hard into the unexplained rather than staging it.

Guests confirmed for the series include Acey Slade of the Murderdolls, Don Jamieson of That Metal Show, Fred Vogel of August Underground, Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp), and Lloyd Kaufman of Troma Entertainment. The combination of subcultures — horror legends, metal icons, and the paranormal — is very much by design.

Nadal herself brings an unusual résumé to the series: psychic medium, clairvoyant, author, and retired Army Reserve Colonel, she has spent decades helping people navigate grief and spiritual growth. The series is directed by Mike Schiff, creator of The History of Metal and Horror, and produced by M.A.S. Productions. Through Static and Shadows is currently in production, with the creative team actively exploring distribution opportunities across digital, streaming, and broadcast platforms.
