Fans of retro horror television and cult personalities can mark their calendars: TRICK OR TREAT WITH REED RICHMOND is finally getting an official release on physical media in August 2025. Originally broadcast once in October 1995 on the now-defunct Monster Planet cable channel, the hour-long Halloween special features cult actor Reed Richmond as he guides viewers through a pumpkin-lit journey into the folklore behind classic monsters such as witches, werewolves, vampires, and mummies.
Long considered a piece of lost media, the special was recovered by Daisy Hemlock and the Center for Lost Media after obtaining a copy from underground distributor Trader Tony’s Tape Dungeon. After years of legal navigation with Monster Planet’s current rights holders, the team has restored and packaged the special for its first-ever home release.
This release retains the original 1995 commercials and includes a host of bonus features:
- Audio commentary tracks by Head Archivist Chris LaMartina and Reed Richmond historian George Stover
- A selection of trailers from Trader Tony’s catalog
- Bloopers and outtakes from the original shoot
Each DVD will also come bundled with a reprint of the October 1995 issue of WHAT’S YOUR DAMAGE?, a Halloween-themed underground zine created by Hemlock prior to founding the Center for Lost Media. The issue includes a rare Reed Richmond interview, a piece on haunted bars, a vinyl guide to spooky records, and a scene report from Salem, Massachusetts.
TRICK OR TREAT WITH REED RICHMOND exists within the in-universe continuity of Chris LaMartina’s WNUF HALLOWEEN SPECIAL and OUT THERE HALLOWEEN MEGA TAPE. Actor George Stover reprises his role as Richmond, bridging this special into the cult-favorite analog horror series.
