This Halloween, audiences will have the rare opportunity to experience Trick ‘r Treat on the big screen once again. Legendary Pictures, Warner Bros. Pictures, and Saga Arts, in partnership with Fathom Entertainment, are bringing Michael Dougherty’s cult favorite back to theaters nationwide on October 14 and 16 for a special two-night engagement.

The event marks the first-ever nationwide theatrical release of Trick ‘r Treat in a newly restored 4K presentation, complete with bonus content featuring writer-director Michael Dougherty. Fans will also see the world premiere of a restored version of Dougherty’s 1996 animated short Season’s Greetings, which introduced audiences to the now-iconic Halloween figure, Sam.
Originally released in 2007, Trick ‘r Treat has become a seasonal classic, weaving together multiple interconnected stories set on Halloween night. The ensemble cast includes Dylan Baker (Spider-Man 2), Anna Paquin (X-Men), Leslie Bibb (The White Lotus), and Brian Cox (Succession). Each tale explores the dark consequences of breaking Halloween traditions, with Sam—the mischievous spirit of the holiday—appearing to ensure the rules are obeyed.
“Horror fans have long been thirsting for Trick ‘r Treat to take its rightful place back on the big screen and in cinemas nationwide,” said Tom Lucas, Vice President of Studio Relations at Fathom Entertainment. “A stellar cast helps make Trick ‘r Treat a frightening cinematic experience fans will not want to miss.”
Along with the restored film, audiences will enjoy a featurette where Dougherty reflects on the Halloween myths, memories, and imagery that inspired Trick ‘r Treat. Tickets are available now at FathomEvents.com and participating theater box offices.
