New Line Cinema has announced the release of Weapons, the latest horror-thriller from Zach Cregger, the filmmaker behind Barbarian. The film will open in theaters and IMAX nationwide on August 8, 2025, with an international rollout to follow.
Weapons centers on a disturbing mystery: all but one child from the same class disappear on the same night, at the same time. As the community searches for answers, tension builds around the question of what—or who—is responsible.
The film stars Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, Alden Ehrenreich, Austin Abrams, Cary Christopher, Benedict Wong, and Amy Madigan. Cregger directs from his own screenplay and also serves as producer alongside Roy Lee, Miri Yoon, J.D. Lifshitz, and Raphael Margules. Executive producers include Michelle Morrissey and Josh Brolin.
Key creative collaborators include director of photography Larkin Seiple, production designer Tom Hammock, editor Joe Murphy, and costume designer Trish Sommerville. The film’s score is composed by Ryan Holladay, Hays Holladay, and Cregger himself.
Produced by Subconscious, Vertigo Entertainment, and BoulderLight Pictures, Weapons continues Cregger’s exploration of original, high-concept horror narratives.
