Apple TV+’s genre-bending new series Widow’s Bay drops its third episode on Wednesday, May 6, and a sneak peek clip from the installment — titled “The Inaugural Swim” — is out now. For anyone who hasn’t caught on yet, this is one to watch.

Created by Katie Dippold (The Heat, Ghostbusters) and executive produced by Hiro Murai (Atlanta, Station Eleven), Widow’s Bay centers on Mayor Tom Loftis (Emmy Award winner Matthew Rhys, The Americans), a well-meaning but deeply cowardly leader determined to turn his struggling coastal community into a tourist destination. His plan works — until the ancient curse the locals always warned about starts proving itself very, very real. Blending genuine horror with character-driven comedy, the series describes the island as one where “the old stories that seemed too ludicrous to be true start happening again.”
The creative lineup alone makes this worth watching. Murai directs five episodes, joined by acclaimed horror director Ti West (X, Pearl, The House of the Devil), Sam Donovan, and Andrew DeYoung. The ensemble cast is led by Rhys alongside Kate O’Flynn, Stephen Root, Kingston Rumi Southwick, Kevin Carroll, Dale Dickey, and Emmy Award winner Jeff Hiller.
Widow’s Bay made its global debut on April 29 with its first two episodes and is rolling out weekly through June 17, 2026, with a special two-episode drop on May 27. With all ten episodes now available for press screening, critical buzz is building.
