Independent Finnish developer MiTale has launched Willow Guard: Frostreign, a new DLC expansion for its dark fantasy RPG Willow Guard, now available on PC via Steam for $7.99. To celebrate launch, the base game is currently 70% off — its deepest discount ever.

Frostreign picks up directly where Willow Guard left off. An unnatural winter has consumed the Atalaka Mountains, forcing travelers to navigate between fractured regions through a network of ancient portals. But something has begun moving through those portals — creatures pressing through from Alteros, the realm of monsters — and Ghweros, the dutybound Willowguard players have been guiding since the base game, is right in their path.
The expansion introduces a frozen new region packed with fresh enemies and expanded storylines, along with Súri, a young wolverine cub who becomes Ghweros’ unlikely companion. Súri isn’t just a narrative addition — she integrates directly into combat, bringing new tactical options to Willow Guard‘s blend of hack-and-slash action and deck-building systems. Outside of combat, players uncover the conspiracy behind the portals and the Nexus Glyphs through a clue-and-item investigation system, with choices that reflect on what it means to guide someone else through a broken world.
MiTale, a 20-person independent studio out of Finland with a focus on immersive interactive storytelling, released the base game a year ago. Frostreign represents the most complete version of Willow Guard to date, expanding both its mechanical depth and the emotional weight of the story.
