RLJE Films has just announced the acquisition of U.S. rights to the upcoming suspenseful deep-sea adventure film, THE DIVE, directed by Max Erlenwein and starring Louisa Krause and Sophie Lowe. The film was co-written by Erlenwein and Joachim Hedén and is a production of augenschein Filmproduktion and Protagonist Pictures.
THE DIVE is a thrilling story of survival that takes the audience on a journey into the unknown depths of the sea. Sisters Drew and May embark on a deep-sea diving trip at one of the world’s most remote spots, where a catastrophic landslide causes rocks to fall into the sea, trapping May deep below the surface. With Drew as her only hope, she must fight for her sister’s life, risking her own in the process.
The film stars Louisa Krause, known for her work in “Dark Waters” and “Billions,” and Sophie Lowe from “Medieval.” Directed by Max Erlenwein, the screenplay was co-written by Erlenwein and Joachim Hedén. Maximilian Leo at augenschein Filmproduktion said, “THE DIVE takes audiences on an immersive journey of survival where the human body and mind are pushed to the limit, filled with breathtaking action and from the perspective of two female leads with rich character arcs.”
RLJE Films has set the release date for THE DIVE on August 25, 2023, in theaters and on demand. The film will be distributed by the studio, a business unit of AMC Networks. Mark Ward, RLJE Films Chief Acquisitions Officer, said, “THE DIVE is a suspenseful and thrilling descent into the great unknown that we cannot wait to share with audiences this summer.”
THE DIVE was produced by Maximilian Leo and Jonas Katzenstein of augenschein Filmproduktion, co-produced by Pierre Ellul and Anika Psaila Savona of Falkun Films, and executive produced by Hedén, Julia Gebauer, Jonas Sörrensson, Philipp Stendebach, Jonathan Saubach, Doris Schrenner, Dave Bishop, George Hamilton, Luane Gauer, Janina Vilsmaier, Céline Dornier, and Pascal Hostachy.
Mark your calendars for August 25, 2023, and get ready to witness the fight for survival.
