The cult comedy Freaked is set to make its long-awaited return with a 4K UHD digital release on October 7, 2025, followed by an extensive Collector’s Edition 4K UHD + Blu-ray on November 5. Preorders for the physical release are now live.

Directed by Alex Winter and Tom Stern, Freaked stars Winter as Ricky Coogan, a former child actor who becomes the face of a toxic chemical campaign. After a detour to a bizarre mutant freak farm run by an eccentric scientist (Randy Quaid), Ricky and his companions—played by Michael Stoyanov and Megan Ward—are physically transformed and absorbed into a sideshow of grotesque oddities.
Initially released in 1993 with minimal theatrical exposure, Freaked developed a dedicated cult following through VHS rentals and late-night cable broadcasts. The film is notable for its use of elaborate practical effects, stylized production design by Catherine Hardwicke, and a supporting cast that includes Mr. T, Bobcat Goldthwait, William Sadler, John Hawkes, Brooke Shields, Keanu Reeves, and Morgan Fairchild.
This new home media release features multiple editions, including a UHD & 2-disc Blu-ray slipcase and a Collector’s Edition. Each version includes alternate cuts of the film, behind-the-scenes featurettes, commentaries, deleted scenes, and interviews with collaborators such as David Daniel (Claymation) and Bill Corso (makeup and art direction).
The Collector’s Edition adds physical extras like a hardback book of essays, behind-the-scenes photos, replica lobby cards, stickers, a canvas poster, and a full script and comic book, all housed in a custom rigid case.
Freaked was co-written by Winter, Stern, and Tim Burns—who had previously worked together on MTV’s The Idiot Box. The film also features a ‘90s-driven soundtrack with artists like Henry Rollins, George Clinton, and The Butthole Surfers.
