A stage adaptation of the 1990 cult film Frankenhooker is heading to the Pacific Northwest as FRANKENHOOKER: A NEW WAVE MUSICAL. The musical parody is written and directed by Ethereal Rosenblum and Keos Rosenblum, and produced through Ethereal Chaos Productions.

The production features original new wave-inspired songs written by the Rosenblums and composer Anthony Dluzak. Rather than recreating the film beat-for-beat, the creative team describes the show as a reimagining that reframes the material with a queer perspective while maintaining its satirical roots.

The musical will debut on June 18 at the Blue Mouse Theatre, followed by performances beginning June 26 at Theatre Puget Sound. According to Ethereal Rosenblum, the goal is to explore the original film’s themes through parody while offering a new experience for audiences familiar with the source material.

The project also serves as Rosenblum’s capstone for her MFA in Arts Leadership at Seattle University, focusing on the role of horror within queer arts spaces. Ethereal Chaos Productions is a grassroots company based in Tacoma, with previous stage projects including The Rocky Horror Circus Show, Labyrinth of Horrors, and Big Burlesqueski.
