Golden Globe winner Ron Perlman (Hellboy, Sons of Anarchy) returns to Tales from Beyond the Pale, the acclaimed horror audio drama series from Larry Fessenden and Glenn McQuaid, in episode 59: Three Raps on the Buoy. Available now on all major audio platforms, the new episode marks Perlman’s first appearance on the series since the 2010 episode This Oracle Moon.

Directed and written by Glenn McQuaid, Three Raps on the Buoy follows two open-water swimmers — played by Perlman and Declan Reynolds (The Restoration at Grayson Manor) — who meet at a buoy, where buried hopes and long-held secrets slowly rise to the surface. Ashley Bell (The Last Exorcism) also stars. At its core, the episode is a story about grief — intimate, elemental, and deeply human.
Producer Larry Fessenden reflects on the season with characteristic humility: “As we near the end of Tales season six, I look back at the amazing contributions by our writers, directors, actors, sound designers, musicians, and poster makers and I marvel at the ambition and humility of this project. These aren’t movies, but they take the same level of care and commitment. It has meant the world to me and Glenn to continue this project for so long, a testament to our love of art making in a brutal world. We’re not done yet. Stay tuned.”
Co-star Declan Reynolds adds: “Glenn and I bonded over losing our fathers at a young age, and Three Raps on the Buoy feels deeply connected to that shared experience. Working opposite Ron Perlman was a genuine pinch-me moment. At its heart, it’s a Tale about grief, something human and universal.”
