A24 and Dolby Laboratories are bringing the upcoming horror feature undertone to Dolby Cinema with special early access screenings on March 9. The film will expand nationwide in additional formats beginning March 13.

Written and directed by Ian Tuason, undertone follows the host of a popular paranormal podcast who becomes unsettled after receiving a series of mysterious and disturbing audio recordings. As the recordings intensify, the line between broadcast and lived experience begins to erode.

The film world premiered at the Fantasia Film Festival and later screened stateside at the Sundance Film Festival before being acquired by A24. Dolby Cinema presentations will showcase the film using Dolby Vision picture quality and Dolby Atmos immersive sound, emphasizing the movie’s focus on audio-driven tension.

According to Jed Harmsen, VP & General Manager of Cinema & Group Entertainment at Dolby Laboratories, the collaboration aims to highlight the film’s sound design, allowing audiences to experience its layered audio environment with heightened clarity.

Fans can attend the March 9 Dolby Cinema early access screenings ahead of the film’s nationwide theatrical release on March 13.
