Satirical horror Astrolatry will hold its world premiere at the 59th Sitges Film Festival, running October 8 through 18, 2026 in Sitges, Catalonia, Spain. The film marks the feature directorial debut of David Gordon and stars Ethan Daniel Corbett.

Corbett plays Elliot, an obsessive outcast whose fixation on a beauty cream model spirals into violent delusion. Astrolatry runs psychological character study through satire and horror to pick at desire, alienation, control, and objectification, taking direct aim at the “nice guy” trope and toxic masculinity along the way.

Corbett trained at California State University, Fullerton before breaking out in Hulu’s Voodoo, and built a festival-circuit reputation with Blood, which screened at Cannes in 2018, followed by FACES (FilmQuest Best Supporting Actor, 2024), Clown & Out, and OUTtv’s Laid Bare. He also executive produces and appears in the psychological horror feature Regression, directed by Melissa Vitello.

“Sitges has a long history of championing both emergent and established independent filmmakers, so it’s an honor to have the World Premiere of ASTROLATRY, my first feature film as director, take place within that storied tradition,” said David Gordon. “Perfectly situated for a midnight audience, ASTROLATRY will take viewers on a rollercoaster and leave them discussing its messaging after they leave the theater.”

The premiere follows the film’s selection in May from a record 124 submissions for the Frontières Buyers Showcase at the Cannes Marché du Film. Founded in 1968, Sitges has served as an early platform for filmmakers including George A. Romero, Sam Raimi, David Cronenberg, and Guillermo del Toro. This year the festival hands its Time Machine Award to Robert Eggers, who will also share a clip from Werwulf.
