Directed by John Fawcett (Orphan Black) from a screenplay by Karen Walton, Ginger Snaps follows death-obsessed teenage sisters Ginger and Brigitte, who are attacked one night by a creature drawn to Ginger’s first menstrual period. Bitten by the beast, Ginger begins exhibiting terrifying aggression and frightening physical changes, leaving her younger sister Brigitte to suspect the worst: her sibling is transforming into a werewolf — and embracing it. Starring Emily Perkins, Katharine Isabelle, Kris Lemche, and Mimi Rogers, the film has spent 25 years cementing its place as a touchstone of feminist horror and Canadian genre cinema.
This two-disc Vestron release packs in an impressive archive of bonus material, including audio commentaries from both director Fawcett and writer Walton, the Blood, Teeth, and Fur featurette, the Growing Pains: Puberty in Horror Films documentary, a making-of, cast auditions, creature creation footage, deleted scenes, TV spots, and theatrical trailers. A brand-new Lionsgate Limited Extra — The Pact: Ginger Snaps Forever — rounds out the package with fresh content exclusive to this edition.
Ginger Snaps is available now on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and Digital. Pick up your copy at major retailers.
