The Terror: Devil in Silver stars and is executive produced by Dan Stevens (Abigail, Downton Abbey), who plays Pepper — a working-class moving man who, through a combination of bad luck and a bad temper, finds himself wrongfully committed to New Hyde Psychiatric Hospital, an institution filled with those society would rather forget. Inside those walls, Pepper must navigate patients working against him, doctors harboring grim secrets, and perhaps the Devil himself. The only path to freedom requires facing the entity that feeds on suffering within New Hyde — but confronting it may reveal that the worst demons live inside Pepper all along.
The six-episode limited series is based on Victor LaValle’s (The Changeling) celebrated novel of the same name, with LaValle serving as showrunner and writer alongside Chris Cantwell (Halt and Catch Fire). Karyn Kusama (Yellowjackets), an Emmy® nominee, directs the first two episodes. Episode 3 is directed by Emmanuel Osei-Kuffour, Jr. and written by Adria Lang. Ridley Scott executive produces for Scott Free Productions.
Stevens is joined by an award-winning ensemble that includes Judith Light (Before, Out of My Mind), Aasif Mandvi (Evil, This Way Up), CCH Pounder (Rustin, NCIS: New Orleans), Chinaza Uche (Silo, A Good Person), Stephen Root (Barry, Heads of State), John Benjamin Hickey (The Big C, Lilly), Michael Aronov (The Americans, Operation Finale), Philip Ettinger (First Reformed, I Know This Much Is True), and Marin Ireland (Sneaky Pete, Glass Chin). The series is Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.
