The inaugural Long Beach Film Festival is saving some scares for Saturday night with “Nightmares on 4th Street,” a 90-minute block of horror and dark comedy shorts screening August 29 at the Art Theatre of Long Beach.

Beginning at 9 p.m., the program features eight short films covering everything from monsters and creepy cults to deadly dating apps and movie nights gone very wrong. The lineup includes “A Man Apart,” featuring Will Forte in an encounter with Death, and the Emmy Award-winning “Roomtone.”
Also screening are “Midnight Movie Club,” which turns movie night into a deadly experience; “Matches,” about a dating app that becomes a cutthroat competition; and “Help,” which mixes relationships with killer monsters.
Rounding out the program are “The Seeing Eye Dog Who Saw Too Much,” “Park Boys,” and “Prime,” a darkly comic take on a health craze that may have more in common with a cult than a wellness program.
“Nightmares on 4th Street” is part of the first Long Beach Film Festival, running August 28–30, 2026. The festival will feature independent films, filmmakers and special events throughout Long Beach, with screenings at the Art Theatre and an Opening Night celebration aboard the Queen Mary.
For horror fans looking for a late-night mix of scares, strange stories and dark humor, “Nightmares on 4th Street” screens Saturday, August 29 at 9 p.m. at the Art Theatre of Long Beach.
