Magnolia Pictures has announced that The Carpenter’s Son, written and directed by Lotfy Nathan, will arrive in theaters nationwide on November 14, 2025. The supernatural thriller features Nicolas Cage, FKA twigs, Noah Jupe, and Isla Johnston.
Set in Roman-era Egypt, the film follows Joseph (Cage), Mary (FKA twigs), and their teenage son Jesus (Jupe) as they navigate life in a remote village under constant spiritual threat. Their fragile stability is disrupted when a stop in a small settlement introduces a mysterious girl (Johnston) who begins to lure Jesus away from his father’s strict faith and traditions.
As the boy is tempted into forbidden experiences, strange and violent events unfold. Jesus suffers visions of the future, and Joseph comes to fear that demonic forces are influencing his son. The tension escalates until the true identity of Jesus’ playmate is revealed: Satan.
Lotfy Nathan, drawing from his Coptic Christian heritage, combines historical settings with supernatural themes to present a genre-bending exploration of divine and demonic conflict.
