As summer heats up, so does the anticipation for Midsummer Scream 2024, the world’s largest convention dedicated to Halloween and horror. Scheduled for July 26-28 at the Long Beach Convention Center, this year promises an even more exhilarating experience for attendees. With nearly 100 hours of panels, presentations, and performances, as well as over 300 vendors and multiple haunted houses, the convention is a must-visit for horror fans.

The excitement begins with the launch of the official Midsummer Scream app, available for free on Apple and Android devices. The app allows guests to meticulously plan their spooky weekend, ensuring they don’t miss any of the thrilling events. “This year’s lineup is our most exciting yet,” says David Markland, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Midsummer Scream.

Highlights of the event include live performances by composer Alan Howarth, famous for his work on films like “Halloween II-VI,” and a panel featuring Hispanic horror filmmakers. Additionally, top Halloween events from across California will be showcased, including The Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor and Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights. That’s not to mention the highly anticipated The Return of the Living Drag 2: Drag By Dawn on Saturday, July 27.

A special theme for 2024, “A Haunting,” will explore ghost stories and paranormal activities, adding an eerie backdrop to the festivities. Among the celebrities attending are Roger L. Jackson, John Kassir, and the Boulet Brothers, along with a panel reunion of the Beetlejuice Revue cast from Universal Studios theme parks.

Moreover, Midsummer Scream will continue to feature its renowned Hall of Shadows, filled with professionally crafted haunted attractions, and the family-friendly Pumpkin Patch scare-free zone. Horror enthusiasts can also enjoy the Screaming Room Film Festival and potentially adopt a furry friend at the Black Cat Lounge.
