A new adaptation of The Black Cat is seeking support through a festival fundraiser campaign as it prepares for its next stage of release. The project, titled Edgar Allan Poe’s The Black Cat, reimagines the 1843 classic following years of live stage performances of Poe’s work by the creative team.
The campaign launched on April 1, 2026, and will run through May 31, 2026, with a fundraising goal of £3,000. Rather than funding production, the initiative is focused on helping the completed film reach wider audiences through film festival submissions and promotional efforts.
Producers Alex, Joe, and Stephen have independently financed the project through personal savings and in-kind support. The current fundraising effort aims to offset those production costs while also covering key expenses tied to distribution. These include £1,000 for production cost recovery, £1,000 for festival submission fees, £400 for sound mixing, £500 for event screenings, £450 for marketing and promotion, and £150 set aside for contingency.
If successful, the campaign will position the film for international exposure on the festival circuit, with the potential to expand onto streaming platforms. The creators are inviting supporters of independent horror and literary adaptations to help bring this modern take on a classic story to a broader audience.
